Stellenbosch Destinations, Activities in the Winelands

One of the big draw-cards to the region is of course the large amount of fantastic Wine Estates. Guests often give themselves far too little time to do justice to the Stellenbosch Wine Route and we would suggest at least three to five days as a minimum stay in the area!
To really enjoy the area without worrying about drinking-and-driving, why don't you consider a good guide to take your around!? Many of the guides offer the following services and we will be happy to put you in touch with a reputable company:
Collect at your doorstep * Wine tasting on selected farms * Cellar tours on request * Lunch on a wine farm * Historical Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl * Beautiful scenery & Cape Dutch architecture * Small groups or private tours
Once one has realized how much there is to do, the temptation (and hopefully submission!) of extending your stay could include a number of other activities:
Stellenbosch is surrounded by a number of golf courses, all within a 30 km radius.
In Stellenbosch itself, the choice is between
Stellenbosch Devon Vale Spier/Kleine Zalze
Towards Paarl, one can play any 18 of the 27 holes offered by
Boschenmeer & Paarl
And in Somerset West & Strand are three options
Somerset West Erinvale Strand
Other options to stay active include:
Squash * Tennis Hiking * Mountain Biking * Game Viewing * Hunting * Horse Riding * Trout Fishing * Photographic Safaris * Helicopter Flips * Hot-air ballooning * Strawberry picking * Picnicing

The Stellenbosch Village Museum, a group of carefully restored and furnished buildings representing the major stylistic periods of the previous three centuries and the Toy & Miniature Museum are two of many museums and places of historical interest in and around the town.
Stellenbosch has quite a few theatres and options range from the Oude Libertas & Spier Amphitheatres where summer programs are popular with locals and visitors alike, to the HB Thom, Dorpstreet and Little Libertas Theatres where year round performances are performed. The Endler Hall is known for classical music performances. There are two cinemas, one in the Eikestad Mall and another in the Langenhoven Student Centre, where the art movies are normally screened.
